On 08-04-03 I was given the opportunity to visit some of the National Guard Troops.  The trip took me to West Point where Connecticut National Guard troops are deployed and providing security.  These troops will be deployed for up to a year.  These are the same people that up until this deployment, worked along side  the rest of us in our daily jobs.  For most of us a year will pass by all too quickly.  There are some who work with deadlines that wish for another day.  There are others that won't notice the year's  passed until New Years day.  But for all these service people deployed it will be one of the longest, toughest years to get through.  I only say this because as the rest of us go about our daily routines these service people have placed theirs lives on pause.  It is only fitting that from time to time we stop to remember what is going on around us.  The point is not if we agree or not for the reasoning behind the deployments, but a little respect for those who chose to do a job that far to many shy away from.

John, when not wearing a tree suit and getting his butt activated, worked with me in that paying type job.

This would have been the transportation, however the wearther did not allow for that.   Instead we were allowed to get a real close look at what we weren't going to be in.
